Winery Background

The Jean-Louis Chave family is located in Mauves, in the Northern Rhône, and is best known for its top-tier Hermitage red and white wines. Chave Sélection is a négociant series established by Jean-Louis Chave in 1995, aiming to present the terroir of the Northern Rhône's premium appellations and the Chave family's winemaking philosophy at a more accessible price.

Circa is the core wine of their Saint-Joseph Blanc line. The grapes come from Clos Florentin, acquired by the Chave family in 2009; this is a roughly 4-hectare, walled plot of mature vines, producing fewer than 400 cases annually, making it relatively scarce.

From Saint-Joseph's Clos Florentin vineyard, the wine displays ripe pear, white peach, apricot, white flowers, almond, and granite minerality; the texture is round, but the acidity and savory notes maintain overall clarity and elegance.
