Description

Laphroaig Lore is one of Laphroaig's core whiskies. It's not an older single cask whisky, but rather an Islay Single Malt blended from whiskies aged 7 to 21 years, with an ABV of 48%. It showcases the deepest and richest aspects of Laphroaig: peaty smoke, sea breeze saltiness, and layers of dark chocolate and spice, classifying it as a "full-bodied" Islay whisky.

Introduced by Distillery Manager John Campbell, Lore is described as one of Laphroaig's richest and most mature expressions. Official descriptions also indicate that it comes from the distillery's reserve casks, using a variety of cask types, including Ex-Bourbon, European oak, Oloroso sherry casks, and quarter casks.

Therefore, this whisky is not simply "heavily peaty," but rather a more complex blend of smoke, sweetness, wood, sea breeze, and spice.

It has notes of peat smoke, sea spray, dark chocolate, and spice, with an overall character that leans towards smokiness, sea salt, dark chocolate, wood, and spices. In actual drinking, it usually starts with Laphroaig's signature medicinal and peaty notes, followed by a gradual unfolding of sweetness, oak, cocoa, and a hint of dried fruit finish.
