Lou Dumont Côte de Nuits Villages Rouge 2022
Lou Dumont Côte de Nuits Villages Rouge 2022 is a Burgundy Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits-Villages appellation. Maison Lou Dumont was founded in 2000 by Japanese winemaker Koji Nakada and Korean-born Jae Hwa Park; the couple makes small-scale, terroir-focused Burgundy with a low-intervention approach.
Vinification & Style
Made from 100% Pinot Noir, this is a medium-bodied red Burgundy style balancing red-fruit freshness, earthy savouriness and fine tannins. Lou Dumont uses natural yeasts, restrained extraction and tightly grained oak barrels from the Jupilles forest, aiming to preserve purity rather than let oak dominate.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Bright ruby red.
Nose: Red cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry, dried herbs, subtle earth, spice and a light mineral note.
Palate: Medium-bodied and refined, with fresh red-berry fruit, lively acidity, gentle savoury notes and polished tannins.
Finish: Clean and elegant, with lingering red fruit, spice and earthy minerality.
Serving & Pairing
Decanting: Open 30–45 minutes before serving; extended decanting is generally unnecessary.
Serving temperature: 14–16°C.
Food pairing: Roast chicken, duck breast, roast goose, pork chop, mushroom risotto, truffle pasta, grilled lamb, char siu with restrained sweetness, and semi-soft cheeses such as Brie or Comté.
Drinking Window
Enjoy from now through approximately 2030–2032. With a few years of bottle age, the fruit should become more savoury and develop more earthy, dried-flower and spice nuances.
Origin: France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits-Villages
