Description

Lou Dumont Gevrey-Chambertin 2023

Lou Dumont Gevrey-Chambertin 2023 is a village-level red Burgundy from the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation in Côte de Nuits. Maison Lou Dumont was founded in 2000 by Japanese winemaker Koji Nakada and Korean-born Jae Hwa Park, known for small-scale, terroir-focused Burgundy with a low-intervention approach.

Vinification & Style
Made from 100% Pinot Noir, this wine reflects Gevrey-Chambertin's classic profile of dark fruit, spice and structured tannins, with Lou Dumont's signature purity and finesse. The 2023 vintage in Burgundy has been praised for its freshness, balance and drinkability, with good concentration and ripe fruit alongside lively acidity.

Tasting Notes
Colour: Medium to deep ruby red.
Nose: Black cherry, raspberry, plum, with subtle violet, spice, earth and mineral notes.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied, with dark-berry fruit, firm but refined tannins, bright acidity and savoury undertones. The mid-palate shows good depth with earthy complexity and fine minerality.
Finish: Long and structured, with lingering dark fruit, spice, earth and mineral notes.

Professional Reviews
CellarTracker community reviews for the 2023 vintage describe it as super elegant, very approachable and good value for money, with one user awarding 93 points and naming it Wine of the Night.

Serving & Pairing
Decanting: Open 45–60 minutes before serving; extended decanting beneficial for younger bottles.
Serving temperature: 15–16°C.
Food pairing: Roast duck, goose, game birds, braised beef short ribs, grilled lamb chops, mushroom risotto, truffle pasta, and semi-hard cheeses such as Comté or Gruyère.

Drinking Window
Enjoy from now through approximately 2033–2036. With bottle age, the fruit will develop more savoury, earthy and spice complexity while maintaining structure and freshness.
