Lou Dumont Savigny-lès-Beaune Vieilles Vignes 2023
Lou Dumont Savigny-lès-Beaune Vieilles Vignes 2023 is a village-level red Burgundy from Savigny-lès-Beaune in Côte de Beaune. Maison Lou Dumont was founded in 2000 by Japanese winemaker Koji Nakada and Korean-born Jae Hwa Park, known for small-scale, terroir-focused Burgundy with a low-intervention approach.
Vinification & Style
Made from 100% Pinot Noir, this Vieilles Vignes cuvée comes from older vines and is made to show Savigny-lès-Beaune’s perfumed, red-fruited and elegant side. The wine is fermented with natural yeast, using around 60% whole bunches, then aged for approximately 18 months in French oak barrels, including around 30% new oak. It is bottled without filtration to retain texture and vineyard character.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Bright ruby red with garnet highlights.
Nose: Red cherry, redcurrant, raspberry, wild strawberry, violet, dried flowers and gentle peppery spice.
Palate: Medium-bodied, fresh and bright, with lively red-fruit flavours, fine tannins and refreshing acidity. The wine has a graceful, perfumed character with discreet structure, subtle earthiness and a light mineral edge.
Finish: Clean, elegant and persistent, showing redcurrant, cherry, floral notes, pepper and gentle savoury complexity.
Serving & Pairing
Decanting: Open 30–45 minutes before serving; extended decanting is generally unnecessary.
Serving temperature: 14–16°C.
Food pairing: Roast chicken, duck breast, roast goose, pork chop, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, truffle pasta, charcuterie, and mild to semi-hard cheeses such as Brie, Comté or Gruyère.
Drinking Window
Enjoy from now through approximately 2030–2034. It should develop more savoury, dried-flower and forest-floor complexity with several years of bottle age.
