Louis Latour Winery Introduction

Founded in 1797, Maison Louis Latour is one of Burgundy's most representative family wineries, renowned for its white wines and Chardonnay. The winery owns important Grand Cru vineyards such as Corton-Charlemagne and is known for its traditional Burgundy style, precise acidity, and delicate texture. Its Bourgogne Chardonnay is an entry-level Burgundy white wine, but it retains the winery's consistent balance.

Bourgogne Chardonnay 2024 Wine Description

Louis Latour Bourgogne Chardonnay 2024 is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes sourced from various regions of Burgundy, with an average vine age of approximately 30 years. The soil is primarily clay and limestone. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, completing malolactic fermentation. They are then aged on lees for 3–6 months, followed by aging in stainless steel tanks for approximately 6 months. This process gives the wine a smooth texture without pronounced oak, cream, or vanilla flavors.

The wine is pale yellow with a greenish sheen. Aromas are dominated by honeysuckle, white flowers, yellow apple, peach, citrus, musk, and a hint of almond, with notes of honey, nuts, and subtle minerality. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with ripe and rounded fruit flavors, crisp acidity, and a smooth texture. The mid-palate offers aromas of yellow fruit, almond, and bread, while the finish is clean, fresh, and mineral.

The 2024 vintage is generally easy to drink, round, and has a Burgundy minerality. It is not a heavy, creamy Chardonnay, but rather excels in its fruit purity, acidity, and light texture, making it ideal for drinking young. The official description states that it has notes of honeysuckle, almond, and a slight brioche, with a long and refreshing finish.
