Showcasing complexity and depth, Rare Cask is extracted from the most extensive range of casks used to mature on the Macallan estate.

Carefully selected by our whisky making team, a blend of sherry seasoned American and European oak casks - a significant proportion of which are first bottling - delivers an unmistakable woody whisky of refinement and rich tones.

Unrivaled access to the widest range of cooperages in Spain gives us a selection of some of the finest and rarest casks to create rare casks, giving the finished whisky a diversity unlike any other Macallan whisky.

It is the whisky making team's job to know each cask in detail, from how it interacts with the spirit to the spectrum of color it imparts. This relationship of casks to artisanship, spirit and craftsmanship culminates in our Rare Cask.

Rare Cask's full-bodied mahogany red whisky showcases two of The Macallan's greatest and most iconic strengths - sherry seasoned oak and natural colour.

Soft aromas of rich vanilla and raisins give way to a sweet combination of apple, lemon and orange. With oak resonance, timelessness, polish and richness.

Vanilla and chocolate lead the finish with a hint of citrus zest. The finish is full and warming.
