Massa Vecchia Rosato Toscana IGT 2021


Massa Vecchia is a pioneering natural wine estate in Tuscany’s Alta Maremma, founded in 1985 by Fabrizio Niccolaini. From the outset, the estate rejected industrial practices in favor of organic farming, later adopting full biodynamics by 2004. Located on limestone soils near Massa Marittima, the six hectare estate, now run by Fabrizio’s daughter Francesca Sarti, focuses on indigenous varieties like Sangiovese, Trebbiano, and Aleatico. All wines are made with native yeasts, extended maceration, no filtration, and minimal or no sulfur. With a strong sense of place and a minimalist approach, Massa Vecchia remains one of Italy’s most respected voices in natural winemaking.

The 2021 Massa Vecchia Rosato Toscana IGT is a rich, artisanal rosé from Italy's Metalliferous Hills made from a blend of Malvasia Nera, Merlot, and Aleatico grapes. It undergoes spontaneous fermentation with a short skin maceration, is aged in oak and chestnut barrels, and then rested in the bottle before release, resulting in a wine with aromatic complexity, freshness, and rustic notes.
