Production & Cask Maturation

Built upon Mortlach’s signature 2.81 distillation process, this whisky is first matured in refill American oak casks to establish a solid foundation. It is then expertly finished in new French oak casks that have been air-dried for approximately four years in the Cognac region. This unique finishing process elevates Mortlach’s traditionally dense, meaty character into a new dimension of savoury depth and spicy complexity.

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Bright and expressive red fruit aromas sit atop a rich, concentrated core. Subtle hints of soy-like savoury notes and smoked meat intertwine with soft, well-integrated woody spices, creating an elegant and well-balanced impression.
• Palate: The entry is full and sweet, featuring smooth, demerara-like brown sugar. Layers of spice build gradually into a complex, powerful, and meaty profile, showcasing a distinctly untamed and savoury character.
