Murray McDavid Mystery Malt Eorna-Loin II 1997 20 Years Old

Once serviced by the Strathspey Railway, the single malt distillery was the first to proudy wear a 'pagoda' designed by Charles Dig.

Today, most of the distillery's spirit is blended into Diageo whiskies. This is a rare opportunity to enjoy such a special example of this fine Speyside single malt.

Nose: sweet apple, citrus, honey

Palate: fresh fruit, citrus, creamy

Finish: long and complex

Pronounced yorna-loin, this single malt has been matured solely in Quercus Alba - American white oak. For most of its life, this whisky has rested in refill bourbon casks before being filled into two fresh Koval bourbon casks from the famed Chicago distillery. Three years in these casks hare given extra levels of flavour and aromatics.

Story

It is a happy accident of history that back in the 18th Century it was discovered that scotch whisky was greatly improved when stored in oak barrels which had previously held wine and sherry . Today Murray McDavid continues to honour this long established tradition by matyring its whisky in avariety of casks that have been used to produce other fine spirits and wines .

We source sherry casks from the bodegas of spain, fortified wine casks from Maderia, port pipes from Portugal and a wide selection of wine barriques from Europe's finest vineyards. We also seek out barrels from the rum distilleries of the Caribbean and the bourbon makers of the United States. All of our casks are used to give Murray McDavid's whisky its unique qualities and diverse styles allowing us to offer a comprehensive range of inspired scotch whisky.
