Murray McDavid Benchmark Craigellachie 2008 10 Years Old Whisky Live 10th Anniversary (TP2019)

Bottled especially for the 10th anniversary of Whisky Live Taipel, this wonderful single malt was distilled in the heart of Speyide, at Craigellachie; one of the great classic Scotch whisky producers. This rich, fruity spirit has been maturing and developing character for a decade in a single cask, previously holding Oloroso Sherry.

Nose: earthy, toasted oats, honey

Palate: smoky cereals, oily, apple, caramel Finish: long, warming soft molasses

Developing complex flavours Whilst taming a boisterous spirit is a challenge our Whisky Creations Team relishes.

This is a shining erample of Speyside whisky's widely adored syle, a fine balance of spirit and oak - we call this The Art of Maturation.

Story

It is a happy accident of history that back in the 18th Century it was discovered that scotch whisky was greatly improved when stored in oak barrels which had previously held wine and sherry . Today Murray McDavid continues to honour this long established tradition by matyring its whisky in avariety of casks that have been used to produce other fine wines and spirits.

We source sherry casks from the bodegas of spain, fortified wine casks from Maderia, port pipes from Portugal and a wide selection of wine barriques from Europe's finest vineyards. We also seek out barrels from the rum distilleries of the Caribbean and the bourbon makers of the United States. All of our casks are used to give Murray McDavid's whisky its unique qualities and diverse styles allowing us to offer a comprehensive range of inspired scotch whiskies.
