Oban 10 Years Old Diageo Special Release 2024 “Coastal Orchard” is a Highland single malt whisky from the Oban distillery on Scotland’s west coast. It is first matured for 10 years in selected refill oak barrels, then transferred to American oak casks that have been seasoned with Oloroso sherry and freshly re-charred for the finishing period.

Bottled at natural cask strength of 58%, non-chill filtered and with no added colouring, it showcases a precise union of coastal character and spicy fruit notes. On the nose, there are salty sea breezes, green apples and lemons, with delicate floral tones and vanilla. The palate is full and coating, offering baked apples, citrus, raisins and salted caramel, layered with white pepper, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and a subtle smokiness. The medium-long finish leaves impressions of citrus peel, peppery warmth and maritime salinity. Overall, this is a cask-strength Oban that expresses “coastal salinity × orchard sweetness × charred spice”, ideal for drinkers who enjoy coastal styles and are looking for a different take on sherry influence and oak spice.
