This blend is typical of Left Bank Bordeaux, with Cabernet Sauvignon providing structure and aging potential, Merlot adding fruitiness and softness, and Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc contributing aromatic complexity.
Tasting Notes
The wine shows a deep purple to almost black color. Aromas are rich and layered with fresh blackcurrant, wild blueberry, blackberry, lavender, cedar, baking spices, smoke, and floral notes. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with firm yet fine tannins, balanced acidity, and a full, harmonious structure. The finish is long with mineral nuances and hints of vanilla and licorice.
Critic Scores
Robert Parker (Wine Advocate): 91-93 points
James Suckling: 91 points
Highly rated by Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, and other top critics as a representative and age-worthy Saint-Julien wine from the vintage.
Drinking Window
Best enjoyed from 2022 to 2040, this wine benefits from decanting when young and will develop greater complexity and smoothness with age.
