Pokeno Exploration Series Totara Cask Finish New Zealand Single Malt Whisky #01

Pōkeno distillery nestled in a warm, misty, humid valley protected by the volcanic hills which from which they source their pure natural spring water and sourced the finest barley from three family-owned farms in New Zealand's richly fertile South Island.

Totara is the indigenous tree that built Aotearoa. From the arrival of Maori, the timber from this tree was used to build waka, homes, carvings, weapons and containers for storing food. After a full maturation in first fill bourbon casks, we have transferred the whisky to the totara barrels for a second maturation period.

Aroma: Creamy coconut, sweet-scented sap, ripe white peach, and freshly cut wood.

Palate: Bitter lemon, stone fruit, and hints of dark chocolate.

Finish: A long and sweet finish, leaving a lasting impression of the Totara influence. (Tasting Note from distillery)

Awarded Gold Medal 95pts in the 2024 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC).
