Port Askaig 12 Year Old Spring Edition (Bottled 2020)

Distilled in 2007 and matured for 12 years, this bottle of Port Askaig showcases the best of Islay. This limited edition bottling features two different vintages, both sourced from a distillery on the northeast coast of Islay, near the village of Port Askaig. Eighteen ex-bourbon barrels from 2006 and 2007 were used to create the multi-faceted single malt, expressing a perfect balance of sweetness and smokiness. Not chill-filtered and bottled at natural strength, it shows a vibrant young Islay.

Aroma: Freshly kiln-melted malt smoke, with a background of zesty lemon oil and sea breeze, with drifting minerals

Taste: The sweetness of the stone fruits accentuates the lemon sherbet and lemon pie. Mixed with the black smoke from the furnace, the sweetness of toffee underneath

Finish: Rich, roasted Persian black lemon and dried mint leaves. The last bite is a light smoked paprika
