On the nose: candied lemon peel, slate and yeasty savouriness. The palate still seems introverted, but tidy in proportions, with rather ripe acidity, but powerful mineral extract, very good length, exceptional taut elegance.

Unfurls its youthful charm with a delicate structure and an aromatic bouquet that captivates the senses. On the nose, one can discern the scents of crisp green apples and citrus, complemented by hints of peach, all set against a backdrop of invigorating minerality. Upon tasting, its zest and balanced texture beckon one to indulge in another sip, unveiling a sparkling acidity that enlivens the palate and leaves a lasting impression.

Story

The name Klosterberg harkens back to the old path that connected Kloster Eberbach and cloister's mills near Eltville, passing through the abbey's properties in Kiedrich. The Klosterberg in many ways is emblematic of the larger Rheingau and its hillside vineyards in particular, with massive geological diversity within a small area. The numerous stone formations reflect the variable geological history of the Rheingau, which formed primarily through the build-up of sedimentation in the primordial sea of the "Mainz Basin" some 45 million years ago. Alongside colored slate, the soils of the Klosterberg feature a share of weathered phyllite slate producing a fertile, fine-grained soil that is notably rich in minerals. Sericite gneiss can be found as well, albeit with a lower potential for minerality. Volcanic in nature, it is found exclusively in the hillside vineyards of the Rheingau. This diverse soil composition produces Rieslings on the Klosterberg that tend toward a rich, almost Baroque opulence.
