Linkwood, located in Elgin, Speyside, is renowned for its delicate floral, green apple, citrus, honey, and fresh malt styles. When matured in premium sherry casks, its wines often develop deeper layers of raisins, chocolate, tobacco, dried fruit, and spices on a bright fruity base.

Signatory Vintage, founded by Andrew Symington in 1988, is one of Scotland's most prominent independent bottlers. Its Exceptional Cask 100 Proof series is positioned with higher-than-usual aging and complexity, typically using small batches from select premium sherry casks and bottled at a uniform 57.1%.

Flavor Characteristics: Aromas are dominated by raisins, figs, dark chocolate, coffee beans, cinnamon, and rich sherry sweetness; on the palate, it is full-bodied with aromas of stewed black fruit, cherry, plum, caramel, tobacco, and dark chocolate. The bright citrus notes of Linkwood emerge in the finish, accompanied by refreshing acidity from grapefruit, orange peel, lemon, and a touch of kiwi, preventing the wine from being overly sweet.

The finish is long, with hints of dark dried fruit, cocoa, tobacco, toasted oak, and a slight bitterness from citrus peel. At 57.1%, it has a strong impact; adding a small amount of water balances the sweet fruit, spice, and citrus layers better, and critics find it particularly appealing at around 55%.
