Suntory Toki (季) Whisky Introduction

Suntory Toki is a blended Japanese whisky under the Suntory brand, made from spirits from three distilleries: Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita. It uses Hakushu American white oak cask malt whisky and Chita heavy grain whisky as its two main components, with the addition of Yamazaki spirits to add roundness, sweetness, and complexity. The overall style is fresh, smooth, and balanced.

"Toki" carries the meaning of "time" and "seasonal change," and is designed for everyday drinking, highballs, and light cocktails. It is not an aged whisky, nor is it a single malt; rather, it is a blended Japanese whisky made from spirits from three distilleries.

Flavor Characteristics: Aromas include basil, green apple, honey, green grape, grapefruit, mint, and thyme. On the palate, it's light and smooth, with fresh fruit flavors and bright acidity. Hakushu brings green apple, herbs, and a hint of smoke, while Chita offers grain sweetness, vanilla, and a rounded finish. Yamazaki adds layers of peach, egg tart aromas, wood, and slightly bitter sherry cask notes.

The finish features vanilla oak, white pepper, ginger, and a touch of sweet spiciness, ending cleanly and energetically. Overall, it's not a heavily peaty or heavily sherry whisky, but rather an easy-drinking Japanese blended whisky with fresh fruit and prominent herbal notes, suitable for drinking on the rocks or as a highball. Officially described as having a "silky taste and vivid character," its balance is its biggest selling point.
