Wolfburn Morven Single Malt Scotch Whisky Miniature 50ml
Wolfburn Morven comes from Wolfburn Distillery in Thurso, mainland Scotland’s northernmost distillery, and is the distillery’s core “peated” expression – a gently peated Highland single malt bottled at 46% ABV, non‑chill filtered and naturally coloured. Made from malted barley dried over peat smoke and named after the highest peak in Caithness, Morven combines soft peat smoke, coastal freshness, fruit, floral notes and honeyed sweetness, offered here in a handy 50ml miniature ideal for sampling or gifting.
Production & Style
Morven is produced, matured and bottled at Wolfburn in Thurso, Scotland, as an official single malt release. The whisky is made from lightly peated malted barley, infused with smoke during kilning to echo the original 19th‑century Wolfburn distillery, which was largely fired by peat. Gentle distillation is followed by maturation in a combination of ex‑bourbon barrels and smaller quarter casks, allowing good wood interaction while keeping the spirit’s freshness; it is bottled at 46% ABV, non‑chill filtered and at natural colour, giving a pale straw appearance and a clean, modern peated profile.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Very pale straw to light gold, bright and clear.
Nose: Initially smoky with delicate peat and fresh sea air, alongside notes of juicy apple and white grape, vanilla and oak shavings; the peat is gentle but clearly present, with an underlying earthy / mineral character.
Palate: Medium‑bodied and smooth. Floral notes lead, followed by raisins and light spices; malty flavours then open up with soft honey sweetness towards the finish. Independent tasters also note more assertive peat than expected for a “lightly peated” malt, with hay, earthy tones, a touch of salted caramel and almond nuttiness balancing the smoke.
Finish: Soft peaty tones linger, with gentle honeyed malt and subtle spice ensuring a smooth, satisfying and quietly smoky finish.
Serving & Pairing
Serving temperature: Around 16–20°C.

Special Info: Morven rounds out Wolfburn’s core lineup as the peated counterpart to Northland and Aurora, and has earned multiple awards (including Double Gold at The FiftyBest and a World Whisky Awards silver), with reviewers often commenting that, while marketed as lightly peated, it delivers more peat presence than expected yet remains fresh, clean and very drinkable.
