Hibiki 響雙獅版金頭金章絕版 (響17年前身)

The Hibiki "Double Lion Edition" with its gold crest and seal is actually the precursor to the later Hibiki 17 Year Old,

considered one of the earliest high-end Hibiki blended whiskies.

Produced by Suntory, it was a blend of various aged malt and grain whiskies from Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita, following a smooth, delicate,

and woody Japanese high-end style. This later evolved into the familiar "Hibiki 17 Year Old" concept.

The bottle is the classic early Hibiki round bottle, with the gold double lion crest on the front and a gold cap (gold crest). Most were 750ml, 43% ABV,

from early batches after 1989, and are now discontinued.

The style continues the characteristics of the later Hibiki 17 Year Old:

The aroma is multi-layered fruity (plum, dried fruit), honey, toffee, vanilla, oak, with hints of floral notes and sandalwood or Mizunara woody notes.

The initial taste is smooth and creamy with a gentle sweetness and strong balance. The finish reveals woody, spicy, and subtly smoky notes, typical of a

"harmonious" Japanese whisky.

Due to the bottle's decades-long age and the influence of early Japanese whisky, opening it reveals more aromas of oxidized candied fruit, dried fruit, and old wooden cabinets. The flavor is more mature and mellow than current models.
