Chateau La Providence Pomerol 2006
Tasting Notes:
Bordeaux Pomerol wines are rich, decadent reds, with notes of chocolate, dark cherry, plums and spice, soft tannins and elegance courtesy of the Merlot grape. Harvested largely before any rain fell on the vineyard in mid-September, it is off the charts in concentration. Atypical for the vintage, this seamless, velvety-textured, opulent, 100% Merlot cuvee (1,550 cases produced) is potentially one of the top dozen or so wines of the year. A sleeper of the vintage, it offers beautiful kirsch liqueur aromas interwoven with scents of truffles, licorice, and spice. This full-bodied, opulent, super-concentrated, stunning Pomerol will be drinkable for 20+ years.

This limited-production, 100% Merlot cuvee is a beauty. Sweet, almost caramelized black cherry fruit and dark mountain berries intermixed with forest floor and a touch of subtle oak characterize this full-bodied, rich, concentrated, superb Pomerol that should hit its stride in 3-4 years and last for two decades. Unfortunately, the production is only about 1,500 cases. (RP)

Christian Moueix's new property is already showing its potential. In the second vintage under his control, it is producing a huge, dense wine, with black cherry juice, blackberry and bitter cocoa flavors. The wine's structure is firm and solid, but with the potential over the next 4–5 years of revealing a more generous side. (RV)

Ruby-red. Ripe, sweet aroma of cherry liqueur. Lush, silky and sweet, with thoroughly ripe, mouthcoating flavors of cherry, minerals and bitter chocolate. Broad, deep and persistent, with smooth tannins. Along with La Fleur-Petrus and Hosanna, this property was harvested before the heavy rain of September 16 and virtually tastes like it's from another vintage. (ST)

Deep crimson. Thick meaty nose. Very lively and racy with lots of density and fine sandy tannins on the finish. Deep flavoured already but with a racy finesse too. Tasted after Pétrus it seemed to have more intensity… 18/20 points (JR)
