Cask Maturation & Style

This whisky features a sophisticated composite cask maturation design. The spirit is first matured for 21 years in a combination of American oak bourbon casks and European oak Oloroso sherry casks. It is then finished in first-fill Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry casks. Bottled at 46.8% ABV in 700ml format, it is neither a single cask nor a pure sherry cask whisky, but a harmonious blend of bourbon, Oloroso, and PX influences.

Tasting Notes

• Aroma: A complex bouquet of tobacco leaf, heather, beeswax, leather, ginger, toffee, molasses, peat, and a subtle hint of iodine.
• Palate: Medium to full-bodied, rich and round. Flavors of toffee, vanilla, syrup, orange peel, cinnamon, nutmeg, roasted meat, red berries, and stewed rhubarb unfold in layers. Bowmore's signature gentle peat smoke runs throughout, perfectly complementing rather than overpowering the sherry fruitiness.
• Finish: The PX finish imparts dried fruit sweetness and depth, while the Oloroso provides nutty, woody spice and a dry backbone. The long, balanced finish leaves lingering notes of sweet wood, gentle smoke, spice, and a savory edge.
