Description
Bruichladdich Octomore Edition 17.3 is the "Islay Barley" version in the 17 series: made from single-origin, single-variety barley from Octomore Farm, with a peat level of 132.1 PPM and an alcohol content of 60.9%, aged for 5 years, it is a limited-edition super-heavily peated single malt whisky.

The focus of 17.3 is not simply on being the "smokiest," but rather on using extreme peat to highlight the terroir of the single-origin farm. Its barley, from Irene’s Field, located only about two miles from the distillery, brings a complex blend of grain sweetness, island savory flavor, and peat.

Nose: Salty caramel, dried apple, oak vanilla, with hints of ash and earthy peat smoke.

Palmistry: Toasted apple fruitiness, praline, vanilla cream, with hints of toasted earth, charred oak, and deep peat.

Finish: Dry smokiness, citrus oils, and a coastal saltiness; officially described as long, dry, and resonant with a lingering peaty finish.
