Lou Dumont Morey-Saint-Denis 2023 is a village-level red wine from Lou Dumont, a winery owned by Japanese winemaker Koji Nakada. Originating in the Morey-Saint-Denis appellation, it is known for its elegant floral aromas, red fruit notes, and fine structure, offering greater terroir depth and complexity than Bourgogne Rouge.

Region: Morey-Saint-Denis AOC, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France. Known for its balanced power and elegance, it falls between the strength of Gevrey-Chambertin and the finesse of Chambolle-Musigny.

Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Noir. The winery emphasizes natural yeast fermentation and long aging in oak barrels (with a low proportion of new barrels) to preserve the freshness of the fruit and the details of the terroir.

2023 Vintage: A Burgundy vintage with warm temperatures, resulting in highly ripe fruit with ample acidity. The overall style is vibrant and open, with Morey village wines particularly emphasizing energy and balance.

Winery Style: Lou Dumont consistently pursues refinement and cleanliness, with a restrained elegance reminiscent of Japanese aesthetics, avoiding excessive intensity.

Aroma: The main notes are ripe red cherry, raspberry, and strawberry, accompanied by wildflowers, rose petals, and forest floor aromas.

After decanting, subtle notes of truffle, cinnamon, and earth emerge, adding complexity.

Palmistry: Medium-bodied, with fresh fruit sweetness on the palate, bright and lively acidity, silky and fine tannins, and a slightly salty minerality.

The mid-palate reveals depth of terroir, with a long finish containing hints of paprika and dried flowers, elegant yet not thin.
