Suntory Special Reserve Whisky 1970's

Suntory's premium blended whisky, released in 1969 to celebrate its 70th anniversary, was labeled "A Rare Blend" in the 1970s. It was primarily made with Yamazaki distillery malt,
 representing the classic craftsmanship of Japan's golden age of whisky.

First released in 1969, coinciding with the 1970 Osaka Expo, the bottle features an embossed "70" on the bottom. Early versions were 760ml with a white cap, 43% ABV, blended with Yamazaki pure malt and grains. Before 1979, it contained no Hakushu whisky and was positioned as an internationally renowned premium blend. At the time, it was the world's best-selling Japanese whisky.

Deep amber in color, the aroma features sherry, dried fruit, orange peel, peach, and floral vanilla, with smoky Asian notes and light oak. On the palate, it is round and sweet, with honey caramel, coffee toffee, and a balanced mid-palate jam. The finish is dry, bittersweet cocoa, elegant and long-lasting, perfectly showcasing the unique charm of 1970s Japanese whisky.。
