The Whisky Big Nose Tomatin 2008 9YO Bourbon Barrel

This series has been selected by Steven Lin in order to share the inspiration he gained from studying whisky for almost 30 years. Having a better understanding of the characteristics of each distillery and by describing the content and flavour of every whisky will provide the whisky lover with the chance to develop their own tastes and experiences.

In the 1970's, the glamorous Tomatin was the most productive distillery in Scotland but bankruptcy followed in the 1980s and it subsequently became the first Scotch Whisky distillery to be fully Japanese owned. Tomatin is located near Inverness in the Highlands. We should be grateful that over the years the capacity of Tomatin has not been reduced so that we still have the opportunity to experience classic character—rich, rounded and full of toffee flavour. his 2008 has a woody note with almond, vanilla and passion fruit and orange woody note with almond, vanilla and passion fruit and orange peel. The first taste is silky and elegant with sweet honey, followed by nutty flavours in the middle and the after taste is lasting toffee sweet with satisfaction.
