Winery Background
Almaviva Winery is located in the heart of Chile's Maipo Valley, with approximately 50 hectares of vineyards. The soil and climate are ideally suited for Bordeaux grape varieties. Founded in 1997, the winery was one of the first in Chile to adopt the French Château concept, combining Chilean terroir with French winemaking traditions to become a symbol of Chile's top red wines.
Almaviva is positioned as a "Chilean Premier Cru," its style lying between the intense fruitiness of the New World and the elegant structure of the Old World, renowned for its fine tannins, refreshing acidity, and long aging potential.
Almaviva 2021 is Chile's flagship Bordeaux blend from Puente Alto in the Maipo Valley, created in collaboration with Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Concha y Toro. It is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with Carmenère, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The 2021 vintage was praised for its freshness, elegance, and excellent balance, receiving high marks from James Suckling (98 points) and Robert Parker (96 points).
